Educational and Cultural exchange from Miss Porter’s School, Farmington- USA

Thirteen students and two teachers from Miss Porter’s School, Farmington- USA visited school for an educational and Cultural exchange from 16th January to 22nd January. This was the first edition of our exchange with them, marking the beginning of a long and happy association. The delegation was accorded a warm welcome by the entire school community through a special assembly wherein a welcome kit was given to each member. Principal, Ms Shalini Mehrotra welcomed the exchange students and staff and urged the entire student body to interact freely with the visitors to enhance their own school experience. RS Representative, Ms Aradhana Malik  also spoke about the importance of educational exchanges and reminded girls how they stand to learn from visitors even if they themselves don’t get to experience an exchange first hand. The joyous moment was captured through a group photograph.

 In the course of the stay the girls enjoyed dormitory life along with their buddies. They attended classes as per their interest and participated in a wide range of sports and Hobby classes. The delegation showed special interest in Shooting, learning Indian arts like Rangoli, Henna and also tried their hands at Indian cuisine. They also learnt dance and how to play the Sitar. The girls got a feel of social service by volunteering their time and service at Kanya Gurukool , the school for underprivileged girls. The visit to Pratapgarh was much enjoyed as it gave them an authentic feel of village life. The delegation also enjoyed the warm hospitality of the host family at Sirsa.  As a grand send off they were taken to visit the architectural marvel, Taj Mahal whose breathtaking beauty left them mesmerised. The group also enjoyed shopping for Indian souvenirs, handicrafts and leather products. Eating at traditional Indian food joints and the alluring beauty of the mustard fields during the drive was also much enjoyed by the group.

The girls presented a dance on a popular Bollywood number on the day of leaving the campus and received certificates from Principal, Ms Mehrotra. Their teacher escorts expressed immense happiness for the warm hospitality extended to them and all of them returned with the promise to come again.
