Right Side Story in collaboration with Whisper, India, organised a workshop on 2nd December on campus for Classes V-IX and XI to enlighten the girls about puberty, secondary sexual characteristics, and menstrual health. The resource person, Ms Sumi Saji, further oriented the girls on how adolescence affects one’s social relations and behaviour and how one can groom herself into a healthy adolescent. Assisted by videos, PPT presentations, and personal interactions, an extensive discussion was also maneuvered on various taboos and stigmas surrounding adolescence, secondary sexual characteristics, and menstruation vs women. The workshop helped students to be more accepting of the changes that initiate with adolescence, and undo the stereotypes and taboos surrounding puberty.
