71st Independence Day Celebration- August 15, 2017

The national fervour permeated in the environs of VDJS on the 71st Independence Day of India on August 15, 2017. This national festival was celebrated with utmost joy and happiness and the Athletic Field was embellished with tri colours. It is a day to pay a mark of respect to our freedom fighters because of whom we are breathing an air of freedom.

The national fervour permeated in the environs of VDJS on the 71st Independence Day of India on August 15, 2017. This national festival was celebrated with utmost joy and happiness and the Athletic Field was embellished with tri colours. It is a day to pay a mark of respect to our freedom fighters because of whom we are breathing an air of freedom.

Ms. Clara Schaksmeier, a teacher ambassador from Germany the Chief Guest for the occasion, was accorded a guard of honour by the School NCC cadets. To commemorate the sovereignty of our nation, Principal unfurled the tricolor flag and all in unison sang the national anthem .Its echo filled the ambience with patriotism and nationalism.

The witness of the March past by the four Houses contingents in uniform was indeed a moment of pride for all. It was a commendable display of discipline, coordination, order and uniformity in sync with the rhythmic beats of the drum. The Chief Guest gracefully received the salutes from all the respective commanders.

The speech in Hindi redefined the meaning of ‘Independence Day celebration’. It enforced that Independence needs to be maintained by the Citizen of India by weeding out all the challenges with courage and determination and it should not only be confined to hoisting the flag, distribution of sweets or giving speeches. Independence is all about executing and enforcing the fundamental duties and rights.

The atmosphere across the school was electric with the patriotic song and the Jindalites truly felt a wave of patriotism, coupled with hope and optimism for the future.

On this occasion, the Principal, Ms Shalini Mehrotra, enlightened all with her words of wisdom. She highlighted the importance of this day and appreciated the students for being responsible citizens and prepare themselves to serve the nation as good leaders.

The much awaited moment of the day was the announcement of the Triathlon results. Triathlon incorporated; 50 m swimming, 1000 m cycling and 400 m running The Champion House in Senior and Junior category was Laxmibai House. Another feather in the cap and a treat to watch was the races of all verticals of the school from Office Bearers to Support Staff.
