The 74th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour in VDJS. This year celebrations were markedly different due to the coronavirus outbreak.  As the global crisis is still far from over, the flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Husain Lawn with a few members of the staff in attendance. Principal Ms Shalini Mehrotra hoisted the tricolour and all offered their salutations as the anthem played. The National pledge was administered to the assemblage by the NCC Cadet.

In her address, the principal congratulated the gathering. While remembering the martyrs and freedom fighters who made this day possible she exhorted each member to be a worthy citizen of this great country. Recalling the celebrations when the students used to be present in school Ms Mehrotra hoped that the 75th Independence Day will once again be celebrated with traditional fervour with the entire school community. Thereafter, all the staff members carried out shramdaan ‘cleanliness drive’ in small groups at different venues following all the precautionary measures against the pandemic.
