Bilingual Turn Coat Debate-September 8-10, 2017
Pinegrove School, Dharampur, Himachal Pradesh, organized ‘2nd Mohinder Memorial Bilingual Turn Coat Debate-2017. A set of 39 students from 13 schools participated in this 3-day event.
A team of three students (two speakers and one researcher) from each school competed for this event. Gracy Agarwal(XII) , Lokavya Choudhary(XI) and Reva Rudra(IX)represented VDJS. The debate was based on Harvard format and conducted in two rounds- Preliminary and Finals.
Gracy spoke on the topic- ‘UN is a toothless lion’. Lokavya presented her views on the topic- ‘Advertisements should be banned as they are creating artificial needs’.
The top 16 speakers of preliminary round got qualified for the next day final round, irrespective of the pools. Both the speakers of our school- Gracy and Lokavya, qualified for it. The topic for the final day was- ‘Refuge to refugees is promoting terrorism’.>/p> Our team performed well and lifted the Runners-up Trophy. Gracy was adjudged as the 2nd Best speaker and Lokavya won Consolation prize in the finals.
