VDJS celebrated Independence Day on 15th August on the track field, where along with the Jindalites, the air, the soil and the flora were also basking in the glory of the completion of 75 years of independence. The national festival commenced with the Guard of Honour accorded to the Chief Guest of the day, the Indian women hockey team player, Ms Sonika Tandi. She unfurled the tricolour flag and the spirit of patriotism overwhelmed the gathering when the national anthem resonated in the surroundings. A beautiful live collage of the patriotic group song, the supple and graceful dance on ‘Vande Matram’ and the energetic and regal performance by the School Band reiterated the integrity, bravery and stoicism that the great freedom fighters fought with to gift the Indians the legacy of ‘Aazad Bharat’ to live in.

A goodwill Hockey match was also played by the Jindalites to mark the grand event. Principal, Ms Shalini Mehrotra and the Chief Guest Ms Sonika Tandi distributed prizes to the winners of the Triathlon. In her address to the gathering, Ms Sonika Tandi enlightened the girls with emphasis on the freedom from self-criticism, negative thoughts and emotions in one’s life to achieve the desired goals.
