Our school is a member of INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) which aims to stimulate and spearhead heritage awareness and conservation in India. This is done through immersion in literary, artistic and cultural experiences.
The School INTACH team kicked off a series of activities on the occasion of the World Heritage Day, 18th April. The objective was to keep the discourse alive through various kinds of experiences and enhance the awareness on heritage. The first task was a poster making activity for students of classes IV-VIII. The next week all the students took an online quiz which they thoroughly enjoyed.
The activities for the coming weeks are reading carefully curated short stories of heroes and legends to pique their interest about historical figures. Writing stories centered around historical facts or events will be another creative assignment. They would be given a verbal stimulus for the same and it has the added benefit of being in alignment with their language curriculum. The art teachers will share with them videos to make simple heritage craft items using commonly found material. Since tours to heritage places is an important part of INTACH activities therefore keeping with the current lockdown situation they will be shared links for a virtual tour of famous places.
Students have been asked to share their own suggestions for what kind of activities they would want to engage in.
