Vidya Devi Jindal School hosted the much-awaited VDJS Service Project at Eminent T.T. Girls College, Soda, Tonk, Rajasthan, from 7th-12th December 2024. Delegates from eleven prestigious schools: Emerald Heights International School, Indore, GEMS New Millennium School, Dubai, KC Public School, Jammu, Maria Public School, Assam, Mayo College, Ajmer, Rajkumar College, Rajkot, The Scindia School, Gwalior, The Shri Ram School, Moulsari, Vivek High School, Chandigarh, and Welham Girls School, Dehradun, and Vidya Devi Jindal School, Hisar, participated in the Service Project, themed, ‘Hands and Hearts Together’.
The service project commenced with an engaging ice-breaking session, where delegates bonded over interactive activities, fostering camaraderie and enthusiasm for the days ahead. The official inauguration of the project was graced by Ms. Chhavi Rajawat, Chairperson, Eminent T.T. Girls College. The delegates enthusiastically began the hands-on service activities with the transferring of sand and cement for the construction of the washroom and boundary wall through a meticulously organised human chain, plastering, painting newly constructed walls, painting trees, and a plantation drive. The collaborative effort of the student volunteers in the execution of the tasks showcased their diligence, dedication, and teamwork. The Chief Guest, Mr. Amit Choudhary, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), shared his inspiring views on service and its transformative power, leaving a profound impact on all present.
Gramin Day offered a unique opportunity for delegates to engage with local village students in various sports, including Kho Kho and dodgeball. A friendly match among the participating delegates further strengthened inter-school connections. The vibrant cultural programme by the participating schools presented performances showcasing their rich heritage. The Principal’s Dinner and a lively jam session fostered a spirit of celebration and reflection.
The delegates also headed for an excursion to Jaipur, where they explored the city’s cultural and historical treasures. Visits to the iconic Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, and Bapu Bazaar were followed by the mesmerising Light and Sound Show at Amber Palace. This immersive experience offered students a glimpse into Rajasthan’s majestic heritage, serving as a perfect blend of education and leisure.
The hard work, dedication and commitment of the students to the service activities and enthusiasm during cultural exchanges exemplified the core values of community engagement and mutual respect. Delegates left with enriched perspectives, cherished memories, and newfound friendships, embodying the true spirit of service and collaboration. The success of the VDJS Service Project stands as a testament to the collaborative spirit and collective effort of all involved.
