VDJS offers Badminton to students from Grade VI. The students are oriented in the beginning of the session about the game and its scope. All students are free to opt for the game regardless of their prior skills set. Badminton programme in VDJS runs at three levels:

SPECIFIC TRAINNING FOR BIGINNERS

1. Fun & Groups Games for warming up (shuttles catch, step jumping with shuttle box, etc.)
2. Holding the Racket for GOOD GRIP.
3. Eye contact with Shuttles (by Tapping the shuttle with Racket).
4. Wall Practice for Good Grip & Eye Contact with Shuttle.
5. In Badminton Court Start with SERVICE (For 1 Month)
   1. Briefly explain about the service.
   2. Position of service with steps (stance, backward swing, forward swing, point of contact & follow through)
6. Cooling down & Stretching exercises.
7. After 1 Month go for next steps that is TOSS & DROPS.
   1. Briefly explain about the Toss & Drops.
   2. Position of Toss & Drops (body face sideways, raise your non racket arm, stretch racket-arm to the back).
8. About the rules & scores.

SPECIFIC TRAINING FOR TEAM PLAYERS

1. Strength training
2. Speed up training
3. Endurance training
4. Foot work in court training

TRAINING IN SINGLE GAME

1. Four corners training.
2. Forehand & backhand drill/stocks (toss, drops & smash/attack).
3. Smash/attack training.
4. Cross & front court training.
5. Control & defence training
6. Specific exercise of different stocks (toss, drops & smash)
7. Cooling down & specific stretching exercise.

TRAINING IN DOUBLES GAME

1. Rotation training of both player
2. Net tapping training (forhand/back hand tapping)
3. Centre attack training ( forhand/back hand attack)
4. Parallel playing training
5. Control & defence training
6. Specific exercise of different stocks (toss, drops & smash)
7. Cooling down & specific stretching exercise.

TRAINING IN MIX DOUBLES GAME

1. Net position attack training (girl)
2. Rotation training of both player
3. Net tapping training (forehand/back hand tapping both boy/girl)
4. Centre attack training (forehand/back hand attack both boy/girl)
5. Parallel playing training
6. Control & defence training
7. Specific exercise of different stocks (toss, drops & smash)
8. Cooling down & specific stretching exercise.
